Space Oddity is a song by English singer-songwriter David Bowie, released as a single and later as the opening track of his second studio album. The song tells the story of a fictional astronaut named Major Tom. The song was used by the BBC as background music during their coverage of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. The song has been certified gold by the BPI.
